Simon Keyes

After reading zoology at Oxford, Simon’s career has been largely concerned with cultivating new initiatives in the areas of homelessness, mental health and crime prevention. He was Director of Shelter’s Housing Aid Services for five years and then set up the Revolving Doors Agency to pioneer new approaches for people with mental health problems in the criminal justice system. In 2000 he organised “The Way of Peace” interfaith initiative with HH The Dalai Lama in Northern Ireland and set up the first London Christian Meditation Centre.

In his fiftieth year, Simon flew Budapest to London and walked home, setting up Onion Projects to promote cultural exchange through with film, video and music. He is now a Fellow in Reconciliation at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, having served as a Director for nine year. He is an honorary Research Fellow of the University of Winchester where he teaches a MA programme in Reconciliation. He is working on a book about walking and has an abiding interest in obscure European films and Beethoven.
